COLUMBUS, OH – A new study by researchers at The Ohio State University has proven that gaming accessories with RGB lighting support significantly improve key performance metrics such as accuracy and reaction time. The study focuses on a brain connection that primes your brain for the colors that are present in the peripherals.
“We can now say, beyond a reasonable doubt, that use of RGB peripherals does increase gaming peak performance,” said Kevin Yoghurt, a researcher at The Ohio State University. Yoghurt added that this conclusion was the culmination of about 3 months of research.
As you can see from the chart above, the research tests reaction times using a controlled program developed in-house at Ohio State. It had respondents test their reaction times using three different keyboards from different manufacturers. The only keyboard with RGB technology in their test was the Razer BlackWidow Chroma. The tests were performed in the OSU/Razer Gaming Testing Center, a controlled environment. Ohio State researchers affirmed us that Razer has no stake in the results of this research.
“Razer has been a great benefactor in providing funding for the OSU/Razer Gaming Testing Center,” stated Todd Hall, the director of the Testing Center. “We have no reason to believe that Razer has any vested interest in the results of the peripheral based studies we perform.”
Since the release of this study, Razer has seen a massive sales increase in their Chroma series. Razer declined to comment on their involvement with the OSU/Razer Gaming Testing Center.
